Overview
The short answer: October to April works best for most journeys
Northeast India does not have one single “perfect” travel season, but for most visitors the best time to visit is from October to April. These are the months when roads, trails, visibility and day-to-day logistics are usually at their most workable across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
That said, the right timing depends on what kind of journey you want. A cycling tour in Arunachal Pradesh, a walking tour in Meghalaya, a wildlife-focused route in Assam or a culture journey timed around a festival all behave a little differently.
This guide is meant to help you choose the right season for your travel style, rather than treat the whole region as one weather pattern.
