Overview
Northeast India offers several different kinds of walking journeys
Walking holidays in Northeast India are not one single format. Meghalaya is often the easiest place to start, with village trails, root bridges, waterfalls and day walks that feel active without becoming a major expedition. Arunachal Pradesh adds a more remote feel, with forest walks, frontier valleys and longer treks that can become much more demanding.
The most useful way to choose is by asking what kind of walking experience you want: softer village-based walking, multi-day hill routes, rainforest trekking or remote far-east trails. The site already has examples of each, from Walkers Tour of Meghalaya to Walking Holiday in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh, Namdapha Rainforest Trek and Aeyo Valley Trek.
That range is what makes the region so strong for walkers: you can keep it cultural and accessible, or move toward deeper remoteness and a more demanding trail experience.
